Gun Laws

Gun laws in any country control the possession, sale and utilizing the ammunition and firearms. State laws are independent of the existing firearm laws. Even though they are at times broader or more limited as compared to the Federal Laws.

State level laws differ significantly in content, form and restriction level. Regulations and laws related to gun ownership differ from the state-to-state.

Why Do Firearm Registration Laws Exist?

Firearm registration laws need individuals to record their ownership of firearm with a reputed law enforcement agency. These laws allow enforcement to disarm, identify and take action against violent criminals and people who illegally possess firearms. Registration system leads to accountability on behalf of the firearm owners and restrains illegal sales.

It leads to prosecution and identification of criminals by helping them to enforce laws quickly and trace the identity sources of firearms recovered from the crime scenes.
Why I Did Decide To Write This Step By Step Guide?

When I decided to buy a gun, there were so many concerns in my mind and there were very few sources to get reliable information. One of the major concern is to get the gun registered in my name. I wanted to do everything by following all the legal procedures and therefore I did a lot of research.

Now my purpose is fulfilled but most of the times, one of my neighbors or relatives used to come and ask me about the steps that one needs to take to become a legal owner of a gun since I had previously bought it.

I decided to write a step by step guide in an easy to understand language so that everyone can easily follow these steps.
